 About Us

The Rockingham-Kwinana State Emergency Service (SES) has a proud and enduring history of community service, teamwork, and resilience. Established in 1979 by local board members Mr. Earnshaw, Mr. Cuthbertson, and Mr. Irving, the unit was created to provide a coordinated local response to emergencies and natural disasters affecting Rockingham, Kwinana and surrounding areas.

Originally focused on storm response and recovery, the unit quickly grew in both membership and capability.

Over time, it expanded to include a wide range of emergency response functions such as land searches, communications, air support, and Incident support. This growth reflected the dedication of its volunteers and the evolving needs of our local community.

Throughout its history, the Rockingham-Kwinana SES has responded to countless emergencies—from severe storms to search and rescue operations and bushfire support. Volunteers have not only served their local area but have also deployed across Australia, embodying the true spirit of service and commitment.

Today, the Rockingham-Kwinana State Emergency Service continues to build on the foundation laid in 1979—working hand-in-hand with the community, local authorities, and other emergency services to protect lives and property in times of need.
