Rockingham Kwinana State Emergency Service
The Rockingham, Kwinana SES unit is made up of four main sections, Rescue, Logistics, Communications and Operations, with each team contributing to the overall function of the unit.

Our unit responds to a range of emergency situations including, but not limited to, storm damage, land search and fire support.
​
Our members serve not only our local community but are often requested to deploy to other units across the both the state and the country in times of need.
Rescue Section
The Rescue teams are the boots on the ground during and emergency. We respond to a range of different types of emergency including, Storm damage, Land Search, Fire Support and Urban Search and Rescue. Our coverage area is typically within all bounds of the Rockingham and Kwinana areas however we are often called to support other units locally and Regularly deploy members to other areas within WA and interstate.

All Training is provided
Logistics
Logistics members are the members behind the scenes that make everything we do possible.

From ordering your initial uniform and PPE to bringing specialised equipment to members in the field and providing transport and meals, Logistics members keep our unit running smooth and effectively for both our members and our community.
Communications Section
Reliable communications between the command point and the frontline are critical during an emergency. The effective deployment of resources and the ability to rapidly respond to changing conditions
depends on it.​
The Comm's team manages the UHF and VHF radios, iPads and the mobile control unit used in an emergency.
We all receive training from the SES as field radio operators and in an emergency, we provide the crucial link between what's happening in the field and the operations centre.

Operations Room
Operation's is the information processing area for SES.
Much of our work is computer based. Our main role is to record all the details of emergencies into a database and track teams who are out on jobs.
During major events we work alongside Communications, Logistics, Comscen (State Communications Centre) to share information
and manage the teams out in the field to best prioritize jobs.
Operation members are not restricted from training and assisting with other sections once you have completed the operations training.
