Logistics

Behind every successful emergency response is a strong support team — and that’s where our Logistics Section comes in.
As a Logistics volunteer you play a crucial role in keeping our unit ready, equipped, and supported. While our frontline crews are responding to storms, floods, and other emergencies, our Logistics members are working behind the scenes to make sure they have everything they need to do the job safely and effectively.
No formal qualifications are required to join the Logistics Section — just a willingness to help, a positive attitude, and the ability to stay organised and adaptable. If you enjoy working as part of a team, are comfortable using basic computer systems, and like solving practical problems, this could be the perfect role for you.
What does a Logistics volunteer do?
Logistics members are involved in a wide range of activities, including:
-
Supporting weekly Wednesday night training
-
Assisting during emergency callouts
-
Maintaining and organising equipment and supply stores
-
Conducting equipment checks and stocktakes
-
Managing supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE)
-
Preparing refreshments during training and extended operations
-
Setting up emergency lighting and support equipment
-
Coordinating transport and resources during activations
During major incidents or peak seasons, Logistics plays a vital role in looking after our volunteers — supplying meals, hydration, equipment, and ensuring everyone’s welfare is monitored during long operations.
As you gain experience and complete required training, there may also be opportunities to assist other SES units and partner agencies across Western Australia — and sometimes even interstate — during large-scale emergencies.
Why join Logistics?
Logistics is ideal for people who want to contribute to emergency response in a meaningful way, without necessarily working on the frontline. It’s a hands-on, practical role that makes a real difference to both the team and the community.
You’ll build strong friendships, develop valuable organizational and coordination skills, and be part of a supportive, community-focused organization that values every member’s contribution.
If you want to be part of a team that keeps Rockingham-Kwinana SES ready to respond — we’d love to welcome you to Logistics.
